Reward for Mom and Dad

To our surprise we got a phone call from Oklahoma on Sunday, March 1, 2009. A Sister Perry called and talked to Mom for about a half an hour. She is "elated to have Elder Robinson serving in their ward." She told us Charles is a "wonderful young man and we should be very proud parents." She also said he is a good missionary and is serving their ward well. On Sunday she had the two over for dinner. She said Elder Robinson and Elder Conrad get along really good and she thinks the companionship will work wonders in their area. Receiving a phone call from someone in the area your child is serving in is a great blessing. Charles is our fourth missionary and we know the value of a phone call such as this. It is so reassuring to know that your child is a good missionary, not just another kid in the mission field because of family or pier pressure. Thank you Sister Perry for taking the time to call.

Email Update March 2, 2009

Well it appears like Elder Charles is doing fine. He told his mom not to ask about the hernia think anymore. "It is all fine" he said. he got a new compaion this transfer. Hie name is Elder Kelly Conrad. Elder Charles met him in the MTC they were in the same district together. Charles says he likes Elder Conrad alot and is way excited to have him for a companion. Charles says Elder Conrad "is serious in his missionary efforts." They arrived in OK at the same time. It is reasuring to me that Elder Charles has not move around very much. He has only been in two areas the six months he has bee serving. The people in the area must like him and he must be doing a good job.

They are currently teaching three families in their area. They are also tracting out othe investigators. The following is a funny store Charles wrote about and I would like to pass it on.

"We went looking for some members on the ward roster that we didn't know and when we knocked on one door a lady answered [Elder Conrad] and he thought that she was the member we were looking for. Well she was pretty go away so elder Conrad just asked her if we could keep coming by and she said yes then he asked her "sister so-so may we [could] have a prayer with you?" and she said thats not her name that she bought the house from her. hahahaha It was funny the whole time we knew something wasn't right but hey she said we could come back and she gave Elder Conrad some nice fuzzy red ear muffs."

Missionary work has many good times along the hard trail. I am glad Elder Conrad and Elder Robinson can laugh together as the go about the Lords work.
